Automated ticket checks at barriers in Northern-managed stations are about to get ‘smarter’ thanks to new technology that will alert staff to potential ‘chancers’ using an incorrect ticket.

Northern is introducing a ban on all e-scooters, hoverboards and e-skateboards across its trains and stations in the North of England.

Train operator, Northern has released a video highlighting the monumental task its team of 500 train presentation operatives have to keep its fleet of 345 trains clean and tidy.

Northern is advising customers not to travel on routes between Carlisle and Skipton due to the availability of replacement buses this weekend.

Northern is warning customers that because of strike action by train driver's union ASLEF on Saturday 26th November, the train operator cannot operate any services across its network.
